Expanding Beyond Borders: How Curt & Co Supported Iamatelier’s Cambodia Expansion Journey

When Singapore-based workforce solutions company Iamatelier began exploring Cambodia as part of its regional expansion strategy, the company was looking for more than new sourcing channels. It was looking for the right long-term partners — organisations that aligned with its commitment to ethical recruitment, legal compliance, and professional workforce development.

To support this journey, Iamatelier engaged Curt & Co to facilitate strategic business matching and on-the-ground market engagement in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Curt & Co arranged and facilitated a series of meetings with leading Cambodian employment agencies, helping Iamatelier better understand the local workforce ecosystem, evaluate operational capabilities, and identify potential collaboration opportunities for long-term regional growth.

Why Cambodia?

Cambodia is becoming an increasingly attractive and also mature market for workforce sourcing across Southeast Asia, particularly within sectors such as Hospitality, Food & Beverage, caregiving, and support services.

Minus the negative reviews you might have heard about the country, we are finding business people more mature and savvy compared with literally 10 years ago.

For Iamatelier — a company committed to ethical recruitment, legal compliance, and professional workforce development — Cambodia represented an important opportunity to expand its regional sourcing network responsibly and strategically to source for Non Tradtional Source workers to bring to Singapore.

Curt & Co’s Role in the Mission

Curt & Co supported the mission from pre-planning through on-the-ground execution.

Prior to the visit, the team conducted due diligence, identified suitable agency partners, coordinated meetings, and structured the business matching sessions based on Iamatelier’s expansion goals.

During the Cambodia visit, Curt & Co accompanied Iamatelier throughout the meetings, helping facilitate discussions, assess partnership potential, and provide local market insight.

This direct engagement allowed conversations to go beyond introductory networking. Instead, the discussions focused on operational capabilities, worker preparation standards, long-term collaboration opportunities, and cultural alignment between organisations.

Key Outcomes from the Cambodia Visit

The mission produced multiple agencies that demonstrated strong capabilities in preparing workers for Singapore’s Hospitality and F&B sectors through structured training programmes and worker support systems. One agency also showcased high-volume placement capabilities, highlighting Cambodia’s potential to support growing regional workforce demand.

Most importantly, all meetings concluded positively, with mutual interest to move forward through formal partnership discussions and Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs).

Beyond workforce placement, the mission also opened conversations around broader educational and regional collaboration opportunities connected to Curt & Co’s wider ecosystem initiatives.

The visit further strengthened Curt & Co’s growing regional network, including the identification of a potential in-country representative in Cambodia to support future expansion projects and client engagements.

Zoom can never replace a face to face.

The Cambodia mission highlighted an important reality about expansion in Southeast Asia: successful regional growth is built through relationships, local understanding, and trusted networks.

While online outreach can create introductions, meaningful partnerships are often formed through direct engagement, face-to-face discussions, and on-the-ground assessment.

For Iamatelier, the visit provided valuable insight into an emerging sourcing market and established the foundation for future regional partnerships.

As regional opportunities continue to grow, the ability to connect businesses with the right partners — in the right markets — will become increasingly important for sustainable expansion across Southeast Asia.
