Brief
Tecomas Group is a consortium of businesses ranging from property to shoes and kitchenware.
Our work with Tecomas was the process of e-commerce enabling. The identification of e-commerce platforms and embarking products from retail to these platforms across the region.
While the objectives are considered straight forward, the issues on the road that we encounter considering Tecomas is a regional brand include ;
-
Import
Import of goods from Malaysia to countries like Indonesia present higher costs due to restriction on import goods.
-
Pricing
Across the region, pricing also had to be standardized but where balance could not be met due to costs, incentives had to be given to consumers.
-
Compliance
Tecomas sells safety boots, electrical appliances that had to be registered locally for compliance

Solution
As with any new market, our step by step approach includes
-
Market research
A check on the existing market size, trends and predictions on the market.
-
Competitors research
Understanding competitors’ pricing, market
-
Regulatory requirements
Import, taxes, product compliance.
-
Channels research
-
Payments
Upon establishing a framework where the products could be imported and sold locally at a reasonable price.
The results were positive with sales generated from the first month of launch exceeding 40% over projections.
The subsequent months showed further maintenance on the same figures with numbers growing after 6 months.
While the rest of the research was useful, the main attributing factor consumers liked the products was because the price was suitable.
